Make It From Scratch Week: Natural Antibiotic Tea (Day 5)

I was really anxious to try this and when I felt a bit of a sore throat coming on today, I knew it was the perfect day for it.

I was really impressed with it. It tasted yummy, it was soothing on my throat, and just felt good to drink.

The jury’s still out on the natural antibiotic properties, but I will say that an extended family member of mine has been sick this week and has been drinking it and it’s seemed to really help.

Have you tried the before? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

(And yes, the ingredients for it are pricey. I used Swagbucks credit to buy the items on Amazon. I figured that it could potentially save money on doctor’s visits/prescriptions if it did indeed work!)

Make It From Scratch Week: Crockpot Brownies (Day 4)

Well, it’s back to the chocolate theme today for the Make It From Scratch Week. 🙂

I was intrigued by the and had to try it.

It was really easy to mix together.

And fun to bake in the crockpot.

The final results were a little cakier than usual brownies, but they were really yummy. I think this recipe would especially be great to bake on a hot day when you don’t want to heat up your house by baking in the oven.

Oh and I’d recommend serving it with ice cream and chocolate syrup. Yum!

Make It From Scratch Week: Homemade Bath Bombs (Day 3)

I’m pretty stoked because today’s Make It From Scratch project is one I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time. And it didn’t even involve chocolate! 🙂

What was it that I made? !

They were really simple to whip up and I cannot wait to try them out.

What I love most about them is that there are pretty much endless color and scent combinations for these. Plus, they would make really cool gifts. Wrap them in cellophane, tie them with a bow, and add a cute gift tag and it’d be a fun and unique gift!

Make It From Scratch Challenge: Pancake Muffins (Day 2)

So I promise I won’t make chocolate things every day this week for the Make It From Scratch Week, but I couldn’t help myself since I was so eager to try the .

{Silas got the muffins tins really well greased! :)}

{Yes, I need some help with my stained muffin tins — if you have any great suggestions, I’m all ears!}

I thought the were decent, but they didn’t wow me. I think it’s because I decided what I like best about pancakes is that buttered griddle flavor.

Have any of you tried this recipe? I’d love to hear what you thought of it.

Make It From Scratch Week: Primal Fudge + Freezer Cooking in an Hour (Day 1)

I’m a little late in getting this posted, because I sort of got ambitious tonight and got my freezer cooking and my Make It From Scratch project done at the same time — and dinner on the table, to boot!

I made up two different batches of burritos using the homemade refried beans I made on Saturday. Having burritos on hand in the freezer is such a great thing. They work well for lunches, dinners, on-the-run meals, and late night snacks.

Next, I tried the  recipe. We opted to put blueberries in half the batter and chocolate chips in the other half. The end result was a little on the dry side. I don’t think I cooked them too long, but I do think they could have used a bit more liquid.

And finally, my Make It From Scratch project I decided upon was the . I was extremely happy with how it turned out.

But I have a little confession to me: I didn’t follow the recipe 100%. I promise I totally meant to, but I discovered halfway through that I didn’t have enough cocoa. So I used chocolate chips instead. I know that defeated the whole purpose of it being primal, but man, it turned out yummy. 🙂

Recipes Made:

Bean & Cheese Burritos
Southwest Rollups
