Walmart Savings Catcher Program

has rolled out an exciting new way to save money on your purchases with the . You can compare your recent purchases at Walmart against local competitor’s advertised prices—and Walmart will do the work for you!

Here’s how the Walmart Savings Catcher Program works:

  1. Enter or scan your Walmart receipt. You can either enter your receipt number on the website, or scan the receipt’s barcode with the Walmart App. Your purchase must have been made within the last 7 days.
  2. Walmart compares prices for you. Walmart will match the price of any local competitor’s printed ad for an identical product.
  3. You get refunded the difference. If the Savings Catcher finds a lower advertised price, you get the difference.

Awesome! I just created an account and entered my receipt from my grocery shopping last week. I had bought two pounds of bacon on that trip, and forgot to price match with Kroger. I can’t wait to see if it catches it. It seems like I’m always forgetting to price match something and every little bit helps!

This isn’t as good as it looks. It says they won’t do a BOGO unless the price is specific. Every local ad in my area states the price saved on a BOGO is “up to” a certain amount. Walmart’s website says they won’t honor it if stated this way. That eliminates every local grocery ad. What a rip off!! I won’t be using this poor excuse for a program.

I was picturing that this would be more of a program to use on non-grocery purchases… though it could work for groceries, too.

I know many readers who have been using it in the test areas and it’s been working well for them. So while it might not work for you, I’m excited to see that it is working well for some:

Thanks Crystal! This is an awesome program, I can’t wait to use it. I try to price match for groceries but always miss a lot. Look forward to using it on non grocery items.

It’s not really a rip off 🙂 Maybe not exciting that they don’t do something we wish they did but they aren’t ripping you off.

    • Nalita says:

Not true….I’ve entered 4 receipts so far and I already have received $9.83 back! It works 😉

  • Denise says:

Used it for the first time last week and saved $4.21. Simple to use (you only have to sign up; enter the receipt # after each trip) and wait 48-72 hours for the savings results. Works for me! 🙂

I was curious as to how one uses the e-gift card. Do you have to use it for only online purchases at Walmart or can you use in the store too? How would that work?

    • Jennifer B. says:

You can choose to transfer your Savings Catcher Reward Dollars to a Walmart Rewards eGift Card that you can use at any Walmart store or on Walmart.com.

  • sandra says:

I love this program. Ive been using it for awhile now. I printed out my rewards reciept when mine got to equal 20.00 and took it to thge store and they scanned it like a coupon, now Im working on adding up more again.

I know it’s too much to hope for, but this would be awesome if special holiday sales like Black Friday were included!

  • Andrea says:

Has anyone else had trouble with this? I have an account with Walmart.com, but I couldn’t log into the savings catcher part of the website. The site allowed me to log into the regular Walmart website, but not this. I tried to sign up for an account in case it required a separate log in, but it said my account already existed, although it wouldn’t log me in.

    • Heather says:

Yes! Same here. I saw this and thought it would be something fun to check out, but I can’t it to sign me in – even though I can log into my Walmart account. Let me know if you figure it out! 🙂 I think I better try to find something a bit more productive and less frustrating while I have some free time during naptime. Maybe I’ll try it again tomorrow or later tonight.

I couldn’t get the site to work on my laptop but I tried it on my phone and on my mom’s desktop and it worked there. I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work on the laptop. But I entered a receipt from last week that was 6 days old to try it and tonight I received an email saying I had earned $2.56 already. I used a few competitor’s ads during that visit and didn’t really think I would save anything, but apparently there were a few sale items I didn’t know anything about. I think this will be a nice way to save a few extra dollars.

  • Heather says:

    *Can’t get it

  • Jamie says:

Thanks for posting! I shopped Wal Mart this week for school supplies (without comparing prices because it’s been a chaotic week). I entered my receipt today and to my surprise received an email tonight saying I saved over $15 using the Savings Catcher! Pretty nice surprise!

  • says:

I downloaded this today and already scanned in 2 receipts. Altho I’m thinking that it won’t count on generic/store brand?

  • Sarath says:

    I got 4.2 dollar credit 🙂

  • Beth says:

wondering if anyone is having same issues/problem as I am . Loaded a receipt 6 days ago and one 4 days ago. Have yet to hear back on any savings. Who do I for this?

    • BL says:

I am waiting on a receipt submitted 4 days ago and another submitted 3 days ago. Both were close to $300, so I’m thinking it may take longer with so many items!

  • megan says:

I received notification it found 1 or more qualifying items yet i have no reward dollars and says it is still searching…anyone else?

  • Ginny says:

Got $6.00 on first trip. Mainly food items and some small school items.

  • Jennifer says:

I don’t normally shop Walmart, but I went last week with my mom and entered her receipt. $15 back on groceries! Most of that was from price matching the Target ad which is somewhere we’d never shop because it’s too far away.

  • Kim says:

Why do some take so long??? I’ve got one from June 10th. Still nothing.
