4 Weeks to a More Organized Home: Assignment #19 (update)

4 Weeks to a More Organized Home

I’m so excited about how many of you are joining us for the 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home Challenge! If you missed today’s assignment, you can find it here.

Today was one of those days… you know, when it feels like every time you turn around there’s another interruption or something that needs to be taken care of right now.

I finally got around to working on the windows at around 9 p.m.

And oh how they needed to be cleaned!

Jesse pitched in and helped me… he’s such a wonderful guy!

Untitled

We both realized that we don’t ever recall cleaning the top section of this window since we’ve lived in this house. And we moved here in 2010. Oops.

The pile of items we came up with to get rid of today. We’re starting to have to dig pretty deep to come up with items, but we’re still finding them!

How you do on Assignment #19? I’d love to have you share your progress and success with us so we can be inspired. Either post a link to your blog post below or leave a comment with your update.

My wonderful husband pitched in to help me today too. I did only the window in our living room, but I had recently washed the actual windows inside and outside–on one of our days above freezing. 🙂

Crystal, how do you purge your school and reference books? I’m having to get serious about getting rid of things in our schoolroom but I’m so afraid I’ll end up needing something that I give away. I’m praying for God’s help in giving me the wisdom to know what I should keep. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Because we’re moving to another state soon and I don’t want to move things that we won’t use again, that helps a lot. I typically just ask myself, “Am I absolutely sure I’ll sure this again?” If the answer is no “yes”, then I think about whether I could borrow it or get it from the library if I needed it in the future. And then I sort through whether it’s worth keeping & moving.

That’s been my thought process as I’m cleaning through the house and homeschool items this time around.

That was so nice of your husband to help. I was able to get help from my kids today.

I used my microfiber cloth on my blinds for the first time and it worked really well. I’m so amazed at how good those cloths are at cleaning.

Oh how I understand one of those days! Mine started at 6:50am w/ the doctor’s office calling to tell me that my daughter did have strep even though the day before they “confirmed” she didn’t. That news meant no preschool for her, no get together with my friends and a trip to the pharmacy. So while I thought I’d make myself some tea, to feel better, I dropped the cup spilling the entire thing on the floor and the walls! Get to the pharmacy and no presciption. 45minutes later we were on our way! And a very sad 3 year old who wasn’t happy she couldn’t go to school. This is child number 2 this week with strep. I could only pray the day would get better. Around 4:00 my other child had a fever over 100. so I figure I’ll be making another trip to the doctor tomorrow. Some days are just like that. I started the challenge but with surgery and many other things haven’t been able to keep up. However, I was so thankful for the print out of this challenge because I can do it at a later time or pick and choose as time opens up in my day.
I’m always amazed at how much you have going on and how much you still get done. This week I’ve been trying to catch up on laundry and dishes and getting my house back in order after two birthday parties for my kids this weekend. I realized how much quicker things were getting done when they were helping with the chores daily. They couldn’t really help this week with being sick and boy did I notice a difference!
Even on days like today your site is such an encouragement. It’s my little “escape” .

I started cleaning windows in a sunny room, but the first room in the shade with frozen windex made me think the cleaning part would have to wait. My curtains look a different color after washing . . . maybe this task should have been done long ago. The window sills were really bad, but I was able to clean all of them. (Got rid of a stack of games and puzzles – some thrown out because of missing pieces, others added to our donation pile) Originally, I didn’t think I’d have time for this challenge, but a sick child meant that we couldn’t get to our first plans so I ended up with the time. (Not excited for a sick child, but I was really glad to still use my time productively.)

What do u do w/ the dirty ragsher when it is done? Do u shake it oshutside? Or put it in the washer like that?

  • Chris says:

I don’t know why, but it kills me to see that nice salt and pepper grinder set in your “get rid of” pile. 🙂 I’m just curious, is it a duplicate or not working or something?

  • L.L. says:

What is a microfiber cloth? Would u recommed them and where can u get them?

    • Jo says:

You can find them online on Amazon, sometimes at Dollar Tree, or the more expensive and higher quality kind are available from Norwex.
