I was so excited for this series, but I have done so bad keeping up with it. We are overseas and with the time difference when I get up in the morning I am usually seeing the recaps. I’m going to go through and work on some of them this weekend to get my house caught up.

We have TEN ceiling fans in our house! (Pretty importatn when summers average 116º and the a/c is run for over 6 months here). Several of them are extra-large ones, and several of them require an extension ladder to reach them (we have high ceilings).

My husband does this job. We just stopped running the fans 2 weeks ago when it finally cooled down. He has this on is to-do list for tomorrow, actually.

This was on my list for this weekend! Ours run constantly all summer in the main areas and when they are finally turned off… wow… in desperate need of cleaning!

One of the neatest and least messiest ways I’ve seen recently is to take an old pillow case, spray the inside with your furniture polish (or whatever you usually clean your fans) then carefully place the pillowcase over each blade. this way, when you wipe them off by pulling the pillowcase off, all the dust build up goes inside the pillowcase and not all over the house! then just shake into the garbage and wash the pillowcase. 🙂

and I didn’t mean for this to go under your post Prudent Homemaker (of which I also enjoy your blog!!). I just went to comment after reading everyone else’s and hit reply instead of going back to the top (without thinking). 😉 sorry! 🙂

I have to admit this is probably my least favorite job but probably the one that needs the most attention. 🙂

Thanks for doing this series this is why I like following along, it gets me to do cleaning jobs I would normally try to avoid.

I have “clean bedroom ceiling fan” on my list of things to do today. My husband was kind enough to clean the one in the family room last week but the one in our bedroom has not been cleaned since April when you last did this challenge and it is looking like something that could be used as a prop in a horror show!

  • K says:

This is really a good series. So much easier to keep track of things a bit at a time than to let them build up into huge and seemingly impossible projects. LOL!

  • says:

I think my 15 min relaxing will be taking a power nap now that I’m home from work and then I’ll see about tackling that light thing 😉

  • says:

I would like to note that cleaning the lights is a highly dangerous thing apparently as my step stool wabbled and I about cracked my head open trying to get down a lamp shade

  • Sara says:

I have to say my house is looking lovely! For some reason, doing these small things is motivating me to keep the rest of the house in good shape as well. I have also been made aware that my children need more regular chores (so its not such a shock when I assign them). Thanks and keep it up!
